There is a lot of talk within the spiritual community of ‘ascension’. Often, we hear spiritual ascension being spoken about as a change from 3D to 5D, which means going from the third dimension into a fifth dimension. To start with, let’s uncover what a 3D reality or third density reality means.

Third Density or 3D Reality

Being in 3D or a third density reality is a lower vibrational reality to the fourth or fifth dimension. In a third dimension reality humans are less connected to their heart centre, more mind conscious and generally living from their identity, or ego. When the mind or identity are dictating behaviour, people tend to be more about the ‘self’. Their identity for example is limited to their name, job, how much money they have and how they react to problems. People with a third dimensional perspective may be more in victim consciousness, with a belief that things happen ‘to them’.

Humans living a 3D reality may also believe there is nothing more in the universe than what they can see, hear and touch. There is a lower concept of a bigger spiritual energy, or of a soul’s wider existence. They may also believe whole heartedly that the governing systems of a community or country are benevolent and working for their highest and best interests, unquestioning of the system in place and having an overriding feeling that following rules and regulations is important and necessary.

The 3D consciousness can result in a lack of empathy with other humans, Earth and life. Examples can be clearly seen when we look at history and themes of human behaviour; the indigenous people were systematically removed and their cultures destroyed. War is an overriding and often prevalent theme in the media, with strong opinions on who is right and wrong. Animals and plants, and sometimes even people, may be viewed as expendable if they are ‘in the way’ or their destruction is financially profitable.
